Notion vs Confluence pricing for small teams (2026)

Short answer: Confluence is cheaper for small teams. It is free for up to 10 users, and 20 users on Standard pay $1,800 a year. Notion Plus costs $1,200 a year for 10 people and $2,400 for 20 (list price, billed yearly, October 2026). Notion costs more because it is a flexible workspace with databases, while Confluence is a wiki that fits best next to Jira.

How is Notion priced compared with Confluence?

Notion charges a flat price per member. Notion's pricing page lists Plus at $10 a member per month and Business at $20, billed yearly.

Billed monthly, they are $12 and $24. Guests do not count as members.

Confluence works differently when billed yearly. Atlassian's pricing page says annual subscriptions are charged for "the tier that most closely matches your user count." Standard costs $720 a year for 1 to 10 users, $1,050 for 11 to 15, $1,800 for 16 to 25 and $3,600 for 26 to 50. Premium costs $1,400, $2,100, $3,550 and $7,100 for the same bands.

Plan How it is billed Price
Notion Free Per member $0
Notion Plus Per member $10 a month yearly, $12 monthly
Notion Business Per member $20 a month yearly, $24 monthly
Confluence Free Per site $0, up to 10 users
Confluence Standard User band, yearly $720 (1–10), $1,050 (11–15), $1,800 (16–25), $3,600 (26–50) a year
Confluence Premium User band, yearly $1,400 (1–10), $2,100 (11–15), $3,550 (16–25), $7,100 (26–50) a year

What do 10 and 20 people pay?

List price, billed yearly, October 2026, before tax. A 20-person team on Confluence pays the 16–25 band.

Plan 10 people / month 10 people / year 20 people / month 20 people / year
Notion Plus $100 $1,200 $200 $2,400
Notion Business $200 $2,400 $400 $4,800
Confluence Free $0 $0 Not available Not available
Confluence Standard $60 $720 $150 $1,800
Confluence Premium $116.67 $1,400 $295.83 $3,550

The bands matter at the edges. An 11th person moves a Confluence Standard team from $720 to $1,050 a year.

A 26th person moves it from $1,800 to $3,600. Notion grows in a straight line: each new member adds $120 a year on Plus.

What does each free plan include?

Confluence Free covers up to 10 users with 2 GB of file storage and community support. For a small team that only needs a shared wiki, that can be enough for a long time.

Notion Free is built for individuals. Multi-member workspaces get a limited number of blocks before they must upgrade, and the plan allows 10 guests, 5 MB file uploads and 7 days of page history. Notion doesn't publish the block number, so a team that plans to use it daily should budget for Plus.

What changes on the paid plans?

The limits teams hit first are storage, history, guests and single sign-on. Here is what each vendor's page lists.

Feature Notion Plus Notion Business Confluence Standard Confluence Premium
Storage / uploads Unlimited uploads (about 5 GB max per file) Unlimited 250 GB Unlimited
Page history 30 days 90 days Version history and rollback Version history and rollback
Guests Unlimited Unlimited 5 free guests per paid user 5 free guests per paid user
SAML SSO Not listed Yes Through Atlassian Guard, sold separately Through Atlassian Guard, sold separately
AI Trial only Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes, Enterprise Search See Atlassian's plan table See Atlassian's plan table
Uptime SLA Not listed Not listed Not listed 99.9%

Notion's AI is the main reason teams move from Plus to Business, which doubles the per-member price. On Confluence, single sign-on comes through Atlassian Guard, which the pricing page lists as a separate subscription on Standard and Premium, so add it if your security policy requires SSO.

Which should a small team choose?

Your situation Better pick Why
10 people or fewer, need a shared wiki Confluence Free $0 for up to 10 users
Engineering team already on Jira Confluence Standard Same Atlassian account and admin
16 to 25 people, docs only Confluence Standard $1,800 a year for the whole band
Docs plus databases, trackers and light project work Notion Plus One flexible workspace
Want AI meeting notes and search built in Notion Business Included at $20 a member
Many clients or contractors reading docs Notion Plus Unlimited guests

One more check: if your team already uses Notion for projects and pays for a separate task tool, you may be paying twice. Our SaaS cost per employee guide shows what a typical small team spends per person across tools.

When one system makes more sense

Docs are often the place where a small team's tools overlap most: the wiki, the task tool and the CRM all hold notes about the same work. When that is the case, the Notion cost calculator helps you see the full bill.

FitMySaaS builds teams of 10 to 40 one system with the features they use and moves their pages in. If a wiki is all you need, Confluence Free or Notion Plus is the simpler answer, and our Notion alternatives page covers other options.
